Dozens of TV outlets from the around the world recorded this moment.
Stockholm was electrified. Last year four Chinese activists streaked. Wang Juntao, the Chairman of the overseas Chinese Democracy Party, said that there would be 50 protesters streaking this year. Consequently, a member of the committee that decides the Nobel Prize in Literature wrote letters, one after another, to Meng Huang and others, hurling insults at the protesters, while calling the police. This year, the entrance of the Music Hall was surrounded by wire fence, and the plaza in front of it was guarded by police cars and gun-toting officers. When Meng Huang was captured, the commanding officer shouted, “Where are the others? Where are they hiding?”
Instead of the prescribed six-hour detention, Meng Huang was released in four hours. The Swedish law prohibits nudity in public and disturbance of the King and the Queen. Meng Huang has broken the law three times but refused to pay fines or plead guilty. If you don’t charge me and try me in a court, he said, “I will come again.”
The police chief and the prosecutor both told him that they would treat him hot coffee again if he comes again.
The following are the reasons why Meng Huang streaks in Stockholm and the Swedish police officers apparently agree:
- In 2012, the Swedish Academy betrayed its idealism to award the Nobel Prize in Literature to a high-level cultural official in dictatorial China who worships Mao Zedong and who believes that censorship is as necessary as security check in airports;
- In 2014, the Swedish government sold weapons to the Chinese government in violation of an EU agreement and its Minister of Defense claimed publicly that they were legitimate deals;
- The aforementioned member of the Swedish Academy wrote a dozen or so letters to insult Meng Huang and to him, Meng Huang says, “if I don’t come, I would not be a man who survived the Tiananmen Massacre in 1989.”
Meng Huang’s streaking record in Stockholm is as follow:
- On December 10, 2012, he streaked for the first time, accompanied by the exiled author Liao Yiwu;
- On December 10, 2012, he streaked along with Liao Yiwu, Bei Ling, and Wang Yiliang; and
- On December 10, 2012, he streaked alone.
- 2012年,你們瑞典賣諾貝爾文學奬給獨裁中國文化高官,他說言論審查是飛機安檢;
- 2014年,你們瑞典賣殺人武器給獨裁中國政府;
- 2012年12月10日,在廖亦武陪同下,首次裸奔抗議;
- 2013年12月10日,與廖亦武、貝嶺、王一梁再次裸奔抗議;
